Food for Thought: Talking to Yourself is Good
You walk by someone on the street who is muttering to themselves under their breath — or even worse, loudly proclaiming their thoughts. What do you think? “What a cool, introspective guy?” Or maybe not. More likely, you quickly walk by while avoiding eye contact.
Well I’m not going to advocate for tossing away your caution, but I will advocate for you to talk to yourself.
When you are alone with your thoughts, they can ebb and flow, and if you try to follow a strand for a while, quite often you will get blown off course and be stuck thinking about something else.
However, if you speak your thoughts aloud, then you force the nebulous strands together into a concrete meaning which you can pursue.
Therefore, if you want to get any serious thinking done, talk to yourself.
